Palm Avenue

Palm Avenue Detox is a 22-bed social model detoxification program serving men, women, trans and non-binary Medi-Cal beneficiaries experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health disorders in San Mateo County. The average length of stay is typically five days or up to about two weeks for those with severe symptoms that qualify for extended detoxification.

Palm Avenue Detox is staffed by registered/certified SUD counselors, case managers, licensed vocational nurses and other support staff. The program operates under the direction of a licensed physician to ensure the utmost safety and comfort during the difficult period of substance withdrawal.

Palm Avenue Detox is not a medical detoxification program and does not employ 24/7 physician staff. However, research has shown that the vast majority of people admitted to a social model detoxification program can withdraw from the effects of alcohol and other drugs without immediate medication or medical intervention.

At Palm Ave, each client is assessed for medical safety prior to admission, and each client is monitored 24/7 under the direction of our medical director. Participants that require withdrawal medications or other medical services are promptly referred and transferred to our medical provider partners.

Whether it is your first time in treatment or you have experienced several treatment episodes, Palm Avenue Detox strives to meet the needs of everyone in need of detox services.
